Dog Waffles: The Easy 4-Ingredient Dog Treat

Dog Waffles

While at home testing some recipes with my Kenmore Waffle Maker, I looked down at my faithful companion, my 2-year-old English Bulldog Betty White, and thought she might enjoy a homemade treat of her own. So I decided to whip up a simple batter using only 4 dog-friendly ingredients and then cooked them in my waffle maker. Not only do I feel much better about knowing what my pets are eating, it turned out to be a cost-effective way to make these treats. Just make sure to let them cool and store them in a glass container to keep them fresh for about a week.

Oh, and just be forewarned that your humans will sneak by for a snack of these treats too! They smell so good cooking in the waffle maker that you’ll have the whole house doing tricks for treats. And that’s ok – these dog waffles are safe for humans, too.

Dog Waffles - DIY Dog Treats

Peanut Butter Banana Waffle Doggie Treats

Ingredients:
1 cup oatmeal
1 banana, very ripe
1 egg
1/3 cup creamy peanut butter (be sure to use a natural kind that does not contain extra oils or sugars)
Coconut oil to grease the waffle maker

Directions:
Heat your Kenmore waffle iron by turning it on and waiting for the light to turn green. While you are waiting, in a medium size bowl mix all the ingredients together except the coconut oil. Use a fork to mash the banana and the other ingredients will bind in. When the waffle iron is heated, brush on a little bit of coconut oil to grease. Scoop about 2 Tbsp. of batter into the center of each square and close the lid to cook. Cook about 4 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from waffle iron and let cool completely. Cut into small squares to feed your furry friends. Happy Eating!
